A key AAC implementation step is making sure the AAC communicator has access to their AAC system at all times. A big part of this is creating new habits (and visual reminders!). Equally important is figuring out how to (easily) keep the AAC device within arm’s reach and accessible while on the move.
So, let’s talk carrying straps! In particular, let’s focus on carrying options for tablets and low-tech communication books (such as PODD and low-tech back-ups). No endorsement is implied.
Built-in Handles/Straps
Some cases incorporate and handle and/or strap and are good options for some AAC communicators.

Harnesses
Harnesses offer a secure way to wear an AAC device, which prevents easy removal (and accidentally leaving it somewhere).
The Jabber Jas harness can be ordered through Jabber Jas Harness (all orders are custom made)
iPad Chest Pack from Setwear
DIY Options
use adhesive anchors for camera tethers (like these) to attach sturdy loops with which to attach the strap of your choice (search camera or binocular straps)
carabiner/s-biner clips can be useful
zip-ties can be useful
use fabric webbing or camera/binocular/guitar straps on binders/bound AAC systems to create a cross-body/shoulder strap
