Temple University AAC Speaker Series (Free webinar)
Ali Wood
“Ali Wood grew up in Redding, Connecticut, and graduated from Colby Sawyer College with a B.S. in Child Development and a minor in Media Studies. After graduating, Ali did an internship at a Connecticut public school, assisting the Assistive Technology Team in evaluating students who would benefit from assistive technology or an augmentative alternative communication (AAC) device. As a fellow AAC user, Ali was able to provide valuable insight and expertise to students beginning their assistive technology journeys. In 2017, Ali started working at the Prospector Theater, a 501(c) non-profit that provides competitive and inclusive employment for adults with disabilities. Ali is currently employed as the Usher Manager and one of the Projectionists. She recently started to book speaking engagements, including the 2023 ATIA (Assistive Technology Industry Association) Conference, where she discusses her AAC story and how employers can tap into a talented workforce by making their businesses more accessible. Ali is a passionate fan of both musical theater and movies (her favorite is Mary Poppins), and she hopes one day to meet Julie Andrews!”
