  • Washington Deaf/Blind Program online USA (map)

4-part online series from the Washington Deaf/Blind Program

Registration will close 1/2/24

“Join the Washington DeafBlind Program for a four-part online professional development focused on communication. What's communication got to do with it? EVERYTHING! will be hosted by Kathee Scoggin and Emma Packard on 1/9/24, 1/23/24, 2/6/24, and 2/20/24 from 4:00p.m.-5:30p.m. PST.

Children and youth who are deafblind have many prelinguistic concepts and skills to learn before language is achieved. Most of those concepts and skills are learned by other children incidentally. Not so for students who are deafblind. Learn the steps to take to make sure the student is primed for learning and using language

You will develop your knowledge of all the ways students can communicate and for what purpose, learn how to provide ongoing opportunities for receptive and expressive communication attempts, and increase your knowledge of how building relationships contributes to the student's motivation to communicate.

A Zoom link will be sent later.”
