Individuals with complex communication needs often struggle with writing as well as communication. If you can’t hold a pencil, how do you learn how to write? In this 60 minute class you will learn about the developmental stages of writing and alternative pencils that can level the playing field for students with significant disabilities. See how to provide independent, engaging writing opportunities for emergent learners using AAC with a framework that shows you what do to before, during, and after the activity. You’ll see what happens when we add video feedback as a strategy. This class is designed for speech-language pathologists, teachers, paraprofessionals, parents, and anyone with basic knowledge of AAC who want to offer independent, emergent writing activities to beginning communicators of all ages.
