I hope this email finds you all enjoying some much needed rest and sunshine for the final stretch of summer. I would like to welcome Margaret Edwards as the new Outreach Coordinator for NWACS! Margaret has been volunteering with NWACS for over two years and is a frequent contributor to the NWACS blog, sharing her knowledge and experiences in supporting students who use AAC in the school setting. Margaret is an awesome addition to our NWACS Board and brings some exciting ideas to help NWACS connect with our local community of AAC parents and professionals.
If you are interested in being a part of upcoming NWACS Outreach projects or have ideas for outreach that you would like to bring to the NWACS mission for 2020/2021, we encourage you to join the first virtual Outreach Committee Meeting later this month. The purpose of this meeting is to bring interested members together to brainstorm ideas for strengthening community outreach related to AAC advocacy and education. Some initial ideas for projects will be presented and all attendees are welcome to brainstorm new ideas and to contribute their skills and talents to setting some of these outreach ideas into motion as the new school year approaches. Two ideas on the agenda for discussion are outreach to parents of AAC users and outreach to school-based SLPs supporting AAC users. We hope you will consider joining and sharing the meeting information with others who may be interested. Meeting details are below.
