Communication matters. It’s at the heart and soul of who we are as human beings, and it’s at the core of Lingraphica’s mission. Simply put, Lingraphica helps people with speech and language impairments improve their communication, speech, and quality of life.

Lingraphica AAC devices

We sold our first AAC device  in 1991 and have shipped thousands more in the 30 years since, but Lingraphica’s origins trace back to 1983. It was then that the first studies of the benefits of computer-based communication systems were piloted for people with severe aphasia: a condition that can affect one’s ability to understand language or express speech.

We believe in the power of AAC because we’ve seen the power of AAC. We’ve had the privilege to learn about the aphasia community’s challenges and needs over the years, and we’ve used those important insights to create our current lineup of AAC devices.

With a Lingraphica device, users can express what they want to say in several different ways. They can practice speech and comprehension through a series of activities, videos, and quizzes. Or they can connect with others and become more independent by bringing the device along wherever they go.

No two people are alike, so we feel that it’s important to find AAC that works best for individual needs. Sometimes that means no-tech solutions. Other times that means complex high-tech options. Lingraphica devices aim to combine the best of both worlds. Our devices are high-tech, but easy to use, which means they’re often helpful for a variety of people.

And while the research way back in 1983 began with aphasia, Lingraphica devices are actually appropriate for those with many different speech or language impairments. In addition to aphasia, Lingraphica devices are regularly prescribed for autism, apraxia, developmental disabilities, dysarthria, primary progressive aphasia, and traumatic brain injury.

Our goal is to help people and support them in their moments of need. We try to make the Lingraphica experience as simple as possible. Our devices are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, VA, commercial insurance, and others. We also offer financial assistance for out-of-pocket expenses. In fact, 97% of our device users paid nothing.
