New Discoveries: AssistiveWare Core Word Classroom

In the ever-changing, wide-ranging, often overwhelming, and profoundly individualized realm of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and assistive technology (AT), all stakeholders need a wealth of knowledge and a toolbox filled with resources. New Discoveries is a series highlighting resources (some new/new to you, some you may have forgotten about) that might be of interest and use. What is AssistiveWare Core Word Classroom?

“The classroom offers a large collection of learning resources, which are designed to support implementation of any communication device that is based on core words. All resources in the Core Word Classroom are developed around fundamental best practices in AAC:

  2. Modeling / Aided Language Stimulation

  3. Communicate everywhere"

You will find resources including:

  • Printable core word displays

  • Planners for teaching core words during common activities

  • Core Word of the Week planners and displays

  • Resources and references for AAC implementation
