Today is the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This landmark document, which sets out fundamental human rights that are to be universally protected, was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on December 10, 1948.

Communication is included as a basic human right.

Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers. [Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)]

In celebration of the 70th anniversary, the International Communication Project (ICP) has released a video highlighting the simple truth that communication takes many forms. The people in the video are ‘communicating’ the ICP’s Universal Declaration of Communication Rights.
