Welcome to "the new" NWACS!
The Northwest Augmentative Communication Society (NWACS) has been around for a long time! In fact, since our launch in the 1970’s by some of the AAC field’s most revered researchers and clinicians, we are proud to say that we are the oldest and longest running organization of our kind in the Pacific Northwest! Our members and AAC community take pride in this history - as well as our driving mission - and continue to do great work across our region to promote awareness of complex communication challenges, advocate for the use of AAC strategies, and support AAC users.
With the changing needs and interests of our growing AAC community, we are excited to welcome you to the NWACS blog, where we hope to add a new spin to a classic organization! We will continue to devote our resources to our established and acclaimed annual Fall conference, but will also enhance our organization’s reach and impact by launching new and exciting online efforts-like this blog, our social media communities on Facebook and Twitter, and our online forum (coming soon!).
The NEW NWACS blog is a place to:
Get acquainted with AAC as a student, a new professional in the field, or a family supporting a new AAC user- if you are looking for introductory information about AAC, research, strategies, outcomes, and more, you are in the right place!
Discuss clinical, research, and social topics related to the field of AAC, posed by NWACS members, AAC users, and our Pacific Northwest AAC community at large.
Share and discover ideas related to AAC assessment, intervention, advocacy, and more!
Connect with others who use AAC, as well those who support AAC uses, to collaborate, debate, and commiserate!
Stay up to date on NWACS events and news, as well as the newest research and trends in the field of AAC!
We hope you will stay connected with us as this new chapter in NWACS begins! Like us on our Facebook and Twitter pages, and subscribe to our blog feed so you can be sure not to miss anything!
At NWACS, we believe that everyone has a voice and we hope that you will also share your thoughts and ideas along the way by engaging in conversations on the blog, in the forum, and on our social media sites!
So let’s get this conversation started!
How has AAC changed your work or life? Post a comment here to share!
Thank you for all that you do to support communication!
