Amplifying Voices

We are always looking for authors to contribute to the NWACS blog! From one singular post to a series, we are open to what inspires you, interests you, or frustrates you! You can help our AAC community by sharing your experience, perspective, and knowledge. No level of “expertise” is required.

Accessibility

We are making an effort to be more accessible in our writing for the website and blog. A big part of that is aiming for a reading level of 9th grade or below for the majority of our content. We use Hemingway Editor to help determine reading level. We also use information from the One Idea Per Line: A Guide to Making Easy Read Resources from ASAN. If you have feedback or suggestions on how to improve in this area, let us know!

Diversity and Inclusion

We hope our blog can speak to equity, multicultural issues, and gender identity within the realm of AAC. We hope to elevate voices and perspectives that have historically been ignored or suppressed.

Contribution Guidelines:

• Contributions should be your own original content.
• There are no length requirements. It can be as long or as short as you need to say what you want to say.
• Feel free to share your personal experience.
• You are welcome to include photographs or images (we will ask about copyright and permissions).
• We love when posts include links to resources or other pages.
• Include any references or source material.
• All submissions are reviewed and edited by our NWACS team.
• We will ask you for a short author bio (just a few to several sentences) and a photo (focused on head/face) or avatar.

We want more voices! We do not require any commitment for blogging. If you, or someone you know, have a unique perspective or want a platform for sharing your experience with AAC, we would love to support that effort.
