About Us

Welcome to NWACS! The Northwest Augmentative Communication Society (NWACS) is a nonprofit organization. Dr. David Beukelman helped form what is now known as NWACS in the 1970s. NWACS believes communication is a basic human right. Our focus is on educating, advocating, and raising awareness about augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

“NWACS is an essential resource for any SLP supporting AAC users, especially in the Puget Sound/Salish sea area! They offer tremendous trainings and a variety of community offerings to help engage our providers and AAC user communities. I am a more skilled clinician in the area of AAC because of them!”

Natasha, SLP

NWACS runs completely on volunteer power. We are always growing and learning about AAC. Our goal is for this website to be a valuable resource to our community – and welcome your input and feedback!
